Golf In Wales - The Golf Courses

Conwy Golf Club - A classic links overlooking the Conwy Estuary. The course features narrow fairways, tight lies and plenty of gorse and bracken.  One of the qualifying courses for the 2006 British Open at Royal Liverpool.

Nefyn Golf Club © Nefyn GCNefyn Golf Club - (18 holes old course - option for further 10 - no extra charge). Probably the most breathtaking location of any of our great links courses here in Wales, the course meanders along the rugged coastline of the Llyn Peninsula and features some excellent golf holes. The old course dates back to 1907 and remains largely untouched. A real treat for the links golfing enthusiast.

Royal St Davids- The course which has played host to the British Seniors Open on several occasions is one of only two courses in Wales to receive Royal patronage, it is laid out on the sands overlooked by Harlech Castle. Golf Digest recently rated the course among the top 100 courses outside the USA. The course is quite open for the first nine, with the back nine running through the dunes. Excellent greens, tight lies and long rough characterize this true links.

Aberdovey Golf Club - This course was also recently voted among the Golf Digest top 100 courses outside the USA. Bernard Darwin was a great fan of this links, which is sandwiched between the Cambrian mountains and dunes of Cardigan Bay. One of the oldest clubs in Wales, the course features the undulations and hollows that only a true links can offer, along with some great finishing holes.

Pennard Golf Club - Established in 1896, the course is laid out on common land overlooking three cliffs bay. A must for the true links enthusiast, the course offers all the undulations and tight lies that an old links can offer. Fast greens and some superb views make a visit to Pennard one not to miss.

Royal Porthcawl - Founded in 1891, this is probably the finest links course in Wales. Host to the British Amateur Championships and Walke Cup, this classic links, laid out next to the shore at Rest Bay, features some excellent holes. The sea is visible from every hole and the layout presents a challenge regardless of the wind direction. The clubhouse is steeped in history and is a real treat for the golfing historian

Roman Road Course © Celtic Manor GCRoman Road Course - Roman Road, the first of the Resort’s courses, opened in 1995 and was ranked ‘the top inland course in Wales’ by Golf Monthly Magazine. Overlooking the Severn Estuary with views across to Somerset and Devon, it was designed by Robert Trent Jones  and is named after the many Roman roads that criss cross it, the design shaped to avoid disrupting any remains. The Roman Road course was the host venue in 2005 and 2006 for both The Celtic Manor Wales Open and the star-studded All*Star Cup, which over the two years of the event has featured celebrities such as Catherine Zeta Jones, Michael Douglas, Ronan Keating, Chris Evans, Jodie Kidd, Bruce Forsyth, William Baldwin, Alice Cooper, Meat Loaf, James Nesbitt and Jane Seymour.
